Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI) Conference

Don't miss the TRPI 5th Annual Education Conference, "Policies, Programs, and Practices: Latino Education for a New Era." The conference will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center on October 31, 2008, from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. This conference is an excellent opportunity to participate in a day of dialogue on how to build, expand, and sustain the social network of resources needed to improve the quality of education for Latinos in this era of change.

A feature this year is the Center for Urban Education presenting a two-part session based on the Equity Scorecard and California Benchmarking Project which are both evidence-based institutional models of assessment developed to help improve achievement outcomes for Latino students and other ethnic groups in higher education.

In addition, USC Rossier School of Education Professor Ricardo Stanton-Salazar will present two sets of network-analytic studies highlighting the similarities and differences in the social capital and networking behavior of low-status students versus those educators who assume the role of supportive adults.
